LAURA CARTER is a Registered Architect, member of the American Institute of Architects, Passive House Designer, and LEED Accredited Professional.

She received a Masters in Architecture from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, a BA from DePaul University in Chicago, IL, and is an alumnus of the Archeworks Alternative Design School, also in Chicago.

Laura has provided design, drafting, consulting, project management, research and filing services for a wide variety of project types. Recent work includes:

  • New 1,200sf weekend cabin in upstate New York

  • Energy retrofit study for 12,300sf multi-family building in Brooklyn, NY

  • Code consulting and feasibility study for proposed apartment combination in New York, NY

  • Gut renovation of a 3.5 story mixed-use building in Brooklyn, NY

  • Schematic layout studies and bid management services for proposed interior renovation of large boutique audio post production studio in Manhattan

  • Code consulting and compliance reviews for several “DIY” music venues in Brooklyn, NY

Laura also works as an Architect and Project Manager at Buck Moorhead Architect, a small Manhattan firm specializing in residential low-energy, net-zero, and Passive House projects. In her free time, she makes grand messes attempting to woodwork and grand noises attempting to play french horn. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.
